The beers from the Chimay brewery are named after the colour of their cap. The colour of the cap is a good guide to the style of beer, with Chimay Red being a copper coloured ale, White a light blonde ale and Blue the darkest of the trio.
Chimay White is remarkably delicate for its strength, with a fluffy body and flavours of orange and juniper coming through on the finish. A light but firm malt accent provides depth.
Very fruity and spicy. Lots of banana, lemon, peach, clove and pepper. Slightly sweet and earthy at first, and then turns more spicy and bitter, with pretty strong hops carrying through after each sip.
This beer is a superb aperitif with sharp acidic flavours.
