Description
Dark all malt strong ale from De Kluis 'The Cloister' brewers of Hoegaarden, 8.5%abv.
Forbidden Fruit (in Flemish, Verboden Vrucht; in French, Le Fruit Defendu) has a suggestion of forest berries with hints of chocolate and mocha. A fine digestif.
An excellent malty dark brown ale with a rich strong long finish.
Forbidden Fruit's label is modelled on Ruben's painting Adam and Eve. Eve is handing Adam a beer not an apple. When the brewery tried to export to the US, the beer was banned because the couple are nude!!!
Big fruity flavour with some spritzy citrus notes, lots of alcohol and some dried fruit. A touch of licorice too. It's interesting. A play on the classic witbier flavours whilst playing at the idea of a stronger darker ale.
