Description
Translates as Santa Claus formally the strongest beer in the world, 14%.

If you are interested in trying every style of beer Samichlaus is truely a one off.

Brewed by Eggenburger of Austria near Saltzberg brewing of this bottom fermented super strong lager was made famous by Hurlimann of Zurich, Switzerland which merged with a larger brewery in the late 90s and stopped brewing this special drink. However the from the year 2000 onwards this super strenght lager has been brewed in Austria using the exact same recipe as the old one. Eggenburger is a brewery famed for its strong Ur Bock beer and is very good at strong lagers.

Samichlaus is brewed one day a year, (December6th - St Nicholas Day) and then matured for nearly a year.

This beer is best at just under room temperature with no food, cigars, or anything else to taint the magnificent malty port-like taste explosion it delivers. This beer is not subtle or for the faint hearted, it is offensivly strong and delivers a full alcoholic stream of warmth everywhere it travels. However this brewery has managed to create a heavy winter lager that warms the entire body and remains interesting and drinkable to the last sip. That is provided one can overcome the initial shock of the surge in strong caramel malty liquid that attacks the unsuspecting palate.

This is a beer to cellar take it home and taste it five years down the line and experience it at its best.

33cl bottle.
